Javier Roz

Javier Roz was born in Plasencia, Spain in 1975. He initially studied medicine from 1995-2000 before turning his focus to art. He studied photography and cinema from 1998-2000. In 2001 he began learning the art of engraving.

Javier Roz has lived in Malaga since 1985. He focuses on the development of projects based on a particular image or idea. Using that as a starting point, he explores and reflects on it, using all of the different media that have intrigued him: drawing, painting, etching, photography and video. He has had ??23 solo exhibitions, and more than 70 group exhibitions throughout Spain, France and Italy and Mexico. Since 2011 he has also taught drawing, and is an assistant professor at a photography school in Malaga.

Roz is particularly interested in exploring the relationship between photography and drawing, line and light. His current work is an exploration toward that synthesis.
