Born in Leningrad in 1953, Chmutin
currently splits his time between St. Petersburg and New York.
While growing up in Russia, he pursued his studies at the Highest
School of Civil Engineering. He is a member of the Saint Petersburg
Artists Association in Russia and a Fellow Member of the Royal
Society of Painter-Printmakers, London.
His mezzotints have been exhibited
in many solo shows in the United States, Poland, Russia and Scotland
and have been accepted in numerous international print competitions
where they have won more than ten awards. In 1994, Chmutin was
selected for inclusion in intergrafia '94 - World Award Winners
Gallery in Katowice, Poland.
His works are in many permanent
collections, including the following:
