Pierre Martin a.k.a. Egide was born on August 25, 1957 in Avignon, France. His formal training as an artist took place at the L'Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Paris from 1979 to 1983.  He currently resides in Canada.

He has been worked continuously as a printmaker, completing more than 300 prints.   He has also served as Professor of engraving from 1984 to 1991 in Paris. He left Paris in 1992 to travel and work throughout Europe, before moving to Canada in 2000.
