Ken Pattern is a well known Canadian artist whose work has been featured internationally in many solo and group exhibitions. For the past two decades the artist has lived in southeast Asian and drawn his main inspiration from Indonesia, especially Jakarta.
Ken has witnessed dramatic changes, which have transforned thriving Jakarta Kampung communities into towers of glass and steel. This has prompted him to depict many of these traditional scenes, exploring a rich cultural heritage that is rapidly giving way to a more modern, global culture. The resulting stone lithographs show a deep respect and understanding for the culture he has immersed himself in for nearly 20 years.
