The representation of nudes, still lifes, genre scenes and eroticism are a constant in the work of Kurt Mair. He is a master colorist who enjoys mining art history for his many sources of inspiration: the Italian Renaissance, Flemish painting, expressionist German or Japanese prints. Signed and numbered in pencil from the edition of 60.
Kurt Mair received his degree studying art history, archeology and Japonology at the Albert Ludwig’s University of Freiburg (Germany). He then took further specialized training from 1987 to 1990 in engraving and lithography at the School of Decorative Arts in Strasbourg.
His first personal exhibition was held in Paris before setting up his own atelier. Today, the artist lives and works in Italy (Savigliano). His art evokes Tuscany along with references to classical art imagery.
