The Human Form

The Human Form

Since the beginning of human history, the human figure has been a constant source of inspiration and fascination to artists. From figures drawn on cavern walls, to Picasso's abstractions, the concept of beauty continually changes through the centuries. In aesthetics, the study and appreciation of the human body and its depiction, covers all aspects of the human experience. Postures for sitting, standing, sleeping or dancing, fighting or loving all find their way into the art of the nude.  In contemporary art, the nude can range from realistic figure drawings to abstractions, from classic beauty to the stark and shocking.
