Perry – Ceramicist and Public Art Fabricator
For more than two decades, Perry has played a vital role in shaping the public art landscape of Los Angeles and beyond. Over the past 22 years, he has contributed to more than 50 public art projects throughout California, bringing both technical mastery and artistic vision to large-scale works that define civic and cultural spaces. As a ceramic tile mural fabricator, Perry has collaborated with some of the most recognized figures in Chicano and contemporary art, including Frank Romero, Kim Abeles, Roberto Gil de Montes, Elsa Flores-Almaraz, Judy Baca, Margaret Garcia, and Sonia Romero. His skill and dedication have helped realize more than 30 monumental tile murals, each integrating craft with cultural storytelling.
Perry’s expertise in ceramics and sculpture was shaped through his training and work with artist Peter Shire, whose experimental approach to form and material influenced Perry’s own sensibility. His combination of technical precision and artistic sensibility has made him a trusted collaborator for major institutions. He has been commissioned by organizations such as The Getty, The Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts, The Pasadena Playhouse, and the California Community Foundation, all of which have relied on his ability to translate creative visions into enduring works of art.
In addition to fabrication, Perry has dedicated himself to the stewardship of public art. Currently, he serves as a consultant for the Los Angeles Metro Public Art Program, maintaining and restoring the system’s extensive art collection while overseeing the installation of new works throughout Los Angeles County. Beyond his professional practice, Perry is committed to arts education and community engagement. As a member of the Board of Directors at Self Help Graphics & Art, he leads ceramics workshops, ensuring that the next generation of artists has access to both technical training and cultural mentorship.
