This is a unique ink drawing by Karl Wirsum. Wirsum was a foundational figure in the Chicago Imagist movement and a member of the influential Hairy Who group, whose work has been widely exhibited and collected. His art has been featured in major solo and group exhibitions, including at the Art Institute of Chicago and the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art, and is held in the permanent collections of major museums.
His style-characterized by bold graphic lines, vibrant color, and playful references to popular culture has made his work appealing to collectors and institutions interested in postwar American art and Chicago’s unique art history.
