The print, “Oh, say can you see…?, is the result of a unique collaboration for each of us.  We started with the given format of the three-foot square linoleum provided by the San Francisco Center for the Book for the event “Roadworks”. The prospect of the “garage-gorilla” printing technique utilizing a small street steamroller was not only appealing but it also influenced our image development.

We had a mutual desire to speak the truth of our sadness about what seems to be an unending cycle of human struggle. Political and cultural statements which are currently relevant in today’s world.  We brought elements from our own individual ongoing work to the collaboration.  The resolved content grew organically.

The print has been exhibited in a dozen venues and all the editions are currently in museum (Crocker Art Museum and Janet Turner Print Museum) and private collections.

Five Editions were printed by a steamroller on Rives BFK paper using oil based ink, and we hand printed four additional prints on kozo paper.  Two of the hand printed prints were made into hanging scrolls.
