"Ladrilleros (Brick Makers)," depicts Mexican adobe brickmakers with a father and son stacking dried adobe bricks on a pallet.

Pablo O'Higgins (1904-1983) was a fascinating figure in Mexican art history - an American-born artist who became thoroughly Mexican in his artistic identity and political commitments. Born Paul Higgins Stevenson in Salt Lake City, Utah, O'Higgins abandoned his first career as a pianist in 1922 and entered the Academy of Arts in San Diego. Within two years he'd become a student of Diego Rivera, assisting Rivera on his murals at the National School of Agriculture at Chapingo and the Public Education Secretariat. O'Higgins became deeply involved in Mexico's social and political movements, joining the Mexican Communist Party and later becoming a founding member of the Taller de Gráfica Popular (TGP)
