Nahum Zenil’s Otro Sueño (“Another Dream”) merges autobiography, myth, and desire into a powerful symbolic composition. In the upper register, a frieze of galloping horses surges forward, ridden by a nude figure and a winged companion—evoking transcendence, longing, and the restless momentum of the subconscious.
Below, a barren landscape rises into a phallic form, an unmistakable reference to the dreamer’s awakening—anchoring the ethereal imagery in the intimate realities of the body. Zenil’s ability to weave spirituality, sexuality, and cultural archetype into a single poetic vision is fully realized here.
Celebrated for his deeply personal yet universal iconography, Zenil blends self-portraiture, desire, and devotional symbolism with the visual language of Mexican printmaking. The muted palette and softly layered tonal passages reinforce the work’s dreamlike atmosphere while preserving its emotional intensity.
Condition: Very good overall. Minor, inherent surface texture and subtle craquelure in darker printed areas consistent with the lithographic process. Verso shows light transfer from printing, not visible when framed. Two tape hinges remain at the top verso.
