José Lozano fills Club Japonesas with a remarkable crowd of faces and figures, combining contemporary men and women with repeated images of Japanese women drawn from traditional imagery. Couples embrace, figures converse, smoke, gesture, and look outward toward the viewer, while stylized Japanese figures and lotus-filled water appear throughout the composition.

Rather than creating conventional foreground and background, Lozano allows dozens of individual scenes to overlap and compete for attention. The result resembles a visual stream of conversations, memories, and cultural references unfolding simultaneously.

The work reflects Lozano's characteristic interest in cultural hybridity and the mixing of imagery from different places and periods. His economical line gives each character an individual personality despite the extraordinary density of the composition.
