The Oval Portrait evokes the interior psychological atmosphere characteristic of Peter Milton’s later work, where memory, literature, and shifting light dissolve the boundary between physical space and imagination. A solitary figure seated beneath fractured window light appears suspended between presence and disappearance, while reflected patterns and softened architectural forms create a dreamlike sense of instability.
